Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson sings with Billie Joe Armstrong, signs new book at San Diego Comic-Con

It was a busy weekend at San Diego Comic-Con for Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson.

He joined Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and his cover band The Coverups to perform Mott the Hoople's "All The Young Dudes" at the Fandom + Z2 Comics San Diego Comic-Con party.

"It was six o'clock in the morning for me. I mean... six oclock in morning and I'd have not been to bed all night because I was obviously jet-lagged and all the rest of it," Dickinson told On The Red Carpet. "Not too sure I remember much about it really!"

Thankfully, Dickinson was very familiar with the song. He'd recorded it for his 1990 solo album, "Tattooed Millionaire."

The rock star also has a history with Z2 Comics. He created a graphic novel saga called "The Mandrake Project." And he was at Comic-Con to celebrate the newest chapters, "The Mandrake Project: Year Two."

"The span of Mandrake is, I mean it's a thoroughly dysfunctional family which goes through the ages and you see where it came from. Where some of the technology started, and it manifests itself in the principal character, which is Dr. Necropolis, who's an orphan, doesn't know who he is. And as we go forward in the book, he discovers who his family really is, but at the same time, you go back and you discover how his family got that way," he said.

"Volume 2 really turns up the heat and it gets surreal. It gets pretty racy, it's really out there. It's like Stanley Kubrick meets 'The Evil Dead," he said.
