HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a woman in Hanford early Monday morning, police say.

Hanford police have arrested 24-year-old Jason Harris for killing 25-year-old Sully Cortezneri.

Detectives say they learned that Cortezneri had gone to the River Oak Apartments to meet Harris.

As she was leaving, Harris tried to rob her. Cortezneri attempted to stop Harris from robbing her but during the fight, Harris shot at Cortezneri multiple times, killing her.

Harris then fled from the scene.

Investigators were able to track Harris to the area on 11th Avenue and Cortner Street.

When they arrived at his location, Harris immediately ran from the officers.

After a short foot pursuit, authorities arrested Harris and booked him into Kings County Jail for murder and other violations.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hanford Police Department.
