Motorcyclist killed after hit-and-run crash in Central Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man has died after he was hit and killed while riding his motorcycle in Central Fresno on Wednesday night.

Fresno Police say they received a call about a hit-and-run just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Dakota and Fruit avenues.

When they arrived, they found a man in his 30s lying in the middle of the intersection. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The victim's identity has not been released.

According to authorities, witnesses say the suspect was driving a silver SUV east on Dakota Avenue when they made a left turn to go north on Fruit Avenue. The motorcycle was traveling west on Dakota Avenue when it was struck by the silver SUV.

The suspect did not stop and quickly sped away from the scene, driving north on Fruit Avenue.

Fresno police say both the suspect vehicle and the motorcyclist had a green light when the incident occurred.

The intersection of Dakota and Fruit avenues will be closed for several hours as officials continue the investigation.
