Oakland Athletics activate Matt Chapman from DL

The Oakland Athletics activated starting third baseman Matt Chapman from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Chapman, who is hitting .250 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs this season, was placed on the DL on June 16 with a bruised right thumb.

Infielder Franklin Barreto was optioned to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.
