Person arrested for alleged DUI after crash seriously injures motorcyclist in Visalia

VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A motorcyclist suffered major injuries Saturday night after a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Giddings Street in Visalia, police say.

Officers responded to the crash at about 9:41 p.m. and say the vehicle was traveling east on Walnut Avenue and turned north into the Best Buy parking lot, directly into the path of a motorcycle traveling west.

The motorcycle then hit the side of the vehicle.

The motorcyclist suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation but was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The collision remains under investigation.
