A man died by drowning at Fresno's Island Water Park on Sunday afternoon.
Police say the man is in his forties.
The incident happened in the wave pool at about 12:45 pm.
Amanda Hamby said she was in the wave pool when the drowning occurred.
She said after the waves stopped, she saw a man floating face down in the deep end of the pool.
Hamby said about 200 people were in the wave pool when lifeguards jumped in to rescue the man.
She said they had challenges getting to him.
"They are blowing the whistle, everybody is still sitting in the water, not trying to get out of their way. They are telling everybody to move out of the way, move out of the way! They finally got him to shore. It took them a little bit to get him there. They got him to shore and they just started pumping on his chest," she said.
Hamby said lifeguards performed CPR on the victim for about 15 minutes until paramedics arrived.
The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where Fresno police officers say he later died.
Hamby doesn't know how the man drowned but thinks he may have gotten stuck under an inner tube.
This is the second drowning reported in the Central Valley within a day.
