FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- If finding time to balance your budget is getting in the way of your social life, there's a trend for that.
"Admin Nights are those times where we dedicate towards those chores that we haven't gotten done, whether that's due to oversight or just even feeling overwhelmed with life itself," says Dr. Brittany Greene, Head of Community at Self Financial.
You may have seen Admin Nights trending on your social feeds.
Think setting appointments, paying bills, making budgets and even canceling subscriptions -- but with your friends.
"Now we've found a way for everyone to start doing them together to kind of take away that overwhelm, but also to find a way to build connection and share knowledge," Dr. Greene said.
Treat it like a dinner party, only fewer dishes and you're tackling your to-dos. Dr. Greene says setting the tone and the environment is key.
Whether you're de-cluttering your credit report or honing in on your budget, the collaboration is a great opportunity to empower your friend group and make sure everyone is on the same page about their finances.
"Even if there's one spouse in the household who isn't necessarily running the finances, if something was to happen to their partner, they would need to know how to step in," Dr. Greene said. "This is that time where they can come together and have a collective conversation about what's happening, where things are going, how to access the reports or certain financial information."
Experts say this is also a way to clear out any financial pests, cut unused subscriptions, go through your statements and make sure there are no extra or fraudulent charges.
That's also a good way to make sure your accounts haven't been compromised.
