Woman killed after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle in East Central Fresno, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman has died after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle near Belmont and Chestnut avenues in East Central Fresno around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, police say.

When officers arrived, they found a woman lying in the street, unconscious and not breathing, with severe injuries to her head and torso.

Officers performed CPR until fire and emergency medical services arrived.

She was then taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment but later died.

The victim has not been identified.

Fresno police are working to find the driver involved in the hit-and-run.

The crash remains under investigation.
