Woman's body found in Merced County canal, sheriff's office confirms

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman's body has been recovered from the Delta Mendota Canal near Whitworth and Cottonwood roads south of Gustine in Merced County, the sheriff's office confirms.

The location is around seven miles from the site where Lupita Ontiveros went missing on January 28 after she and three others crashed into the canal while riding a RZR off-road vehicle.

The identity of the body has not been confirmed.
