The Los Angeles Chargers and outside linebacker Joey Bosa agreed to a restructured contract, sources told Adam Schefter Thursday.

Bosa had two years remaining on a five-year, $135 million contract extension he signed in 2020. He was viewed as a potential cut or trade candidate for the salary cap-strapped Chargers this offseason, but the restructure keeps him in Los Angeles

Bosa has played just 14 games over the past two seasons, missing time with hamstring, foot and toe injuries. The frustration of those injuries was evident when Bosa left the field in tears after spraining his foot in a Week 11 loss to the Green Bay Packers last season that sidelined him for the remainder of the year.

When healthy, Bosa is still one of the league's best, as he showed in the Chargers' win over the Jets in Week 9 last season, where he had 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

Bosa joins Khalil Mack as star pass-rushers to renegotiate their contracts and remain with the Chargers. Mack agreed to restructure his deal on Wednesday, sources told Schefter.

Meanwhile, the Chargers are expected to sign former Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Thursday.

Hurst will be a familiar face for many in the organization. General manager Joe Hortiz was a part of the Baltimore Ravens staff that drafted Hurst in the first round in 2018, and Chargers offensive coordinator Greg Roman coached Hurst for two seasons when Roman held the same role with the Ravens. Hurst had 18 catches for 183 yards through nine games last season and will likely be the Chargers' top receiving tight end.

Hurst suffered a brutal concussion in Carolina's Week 10 game against the Chicago Bears. He wrote on X that he couldn't remember up to four hours after the game. His father, Jerry, also announced on X that an independent neurologist diagnosed Hurst with post-traumatic amnesia, which is when an injured person gains consciousness and is awake but is behaving or talking in a bizarre or uncharacteristic manner. Hurst didn't play another game for the Panthers last season.

Hurst hinted on X on Thursday at joining the Chargers, responding to a photoshopped image of him clad in Chargers colors, with eye emojis.
