Fresno, Kings and Tulare Counties confirm human West Nile Virus cases

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno, Kings and Tulare Counties have confirmed their first human infections this year of West Nile Virus.

Fresno County Health officials said on Friday that the case was identified through routine testing of a blood donor.

They expect the number of infections to increase.

Earlier Friday, Kings County officials said it had detected its first human case.

The state shows another case was confirmed in Tulare County.

Health experts recommend using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants during the early morning and evening hours, and draining standing water around homes.
