FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno native is on a difficult road to recovery after his family says he lost his left hand while simply trying to clean up firework debris on the northern California coast.
Action News spoke to the daughter of Jason Turner, who's currently living in Crescent City.
She created a GoFundMe after she said her dad was walking along the beach at Point Saint George and picking up trash a day after July 4.
That's when his family says he picked up a bomb-like device and it exploded.
He was rushed to the hospital but his hand could not be saved.
We're told he's also experiencing vision and hearing loss, along with needing more surgeries at UC Davis Medical Center.
Turner's daughter says he is the sole provider for his family of seven, with two kids still in school.
