REEDLEY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The kitchen is busy and the customers come hungry at Downtown Reedley's newest eatery, The Pub.

"It's good cooking. It's a friendly place," said Rick Nicholas, a customer. "It was not like it looks now. This place is now beautiful. He did a lot of work here."

The Pub is an old restaurant that's been made new. It served customers for 25 years before it closed for a few years.

Mike Boss purchased the eatery. He said, "Weldon came to me and asked me if I would buy it, so he was a friend of mine, and five minutes later I owned the place. It just happened. I went to the office and I said, 'What the heck did I do?' But it's been fun. Reedley has really supported us."

Now in its second week, the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Boss spent a year renovating the business from top to bottom to give it a rustic feel.

One of the neat features of The Pub is the use of American-made products - everything from the bar top to reclaimed wood that is used throughout the restaurant.

"The wood on the back bar is from San Quentin Prison. Our beer tap is handmade out of copper," said Boss.

A small wall also pays tribute to different farms in the Valley. There are also some new age features including USB plugins under the bar and a modern day jukebox.

But for the locals, this place has quickly become their new favorite spot. "This is only the second week. We eat here breakfast and lunch most days. My wife, she doesn't like to cook," said Nicholas.

It's a place where many will share laughs, meals and memories.
