Owner Liz Sanchez says many tamales are made during the holiday season.

"You get to work together, remanence about old times and future times and get to enjoy the fruit of your labor," said Sanchez.

For those who do not have time to make the treat, restaurants like Casa de Tamales are busy churning out hundreds of tamales.

Pork is a favorite, while veggie and vegan are also popular.

Casa de Tamales sells them by the dozen.

"Throughout the year to this week, we will go up to anywhere from 150 to 200 percent. So it is pretty huge on the number we will move for the week."

Vallarta Supermarkets has a one-stop shop for tamales.

"Everybody can get all they need for their tamale-making needs. You have the pot, the masa, the hominy, all the chiles, the corn husk which is key to making tamales," said Rick Castillo.

You can make tamales or order premade tamales by the dozen. The supermarket caters to the Hispanic shopper, but recognize tamales are loved by many.

"Who doesn't love tamales? Whether you're Hispanic, Anglo, Asian, and African American. I think everybody loves tamales this time of year," said Castillo.
