It happened Friday night around 8 p.m. when police say 20-year-old Vanessa Murillo was making a left turn and lost control near North Fork Drive.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A woman is in custody Saturday evening following a deadly DUI crash. Police arrested 20-year-old Vanessa Murillo after crashing her car on North Fork Drive and Highway 198.

It happened Friday night around 8 p.m. Police say Murillo was making a left turn when she lost control and drove onto the dirt shoulder.

Investigators say she overcorrected and swerved across both lanes of the roadway before hitting a boulder. The car launched in the air flipping onto its roof.

Murillo and the front passenger were wearing seatbelts, but the three in the back were not. One of the passengers was ejected from the car and died as a result of their injuries.

It was later determined that Murillo was driving under the influence. She's now facing multiple charges in the crash.
