Valley senior citizens received special treatment today at the Big Fresno Fair
Before the official fair gates opened at 11 a.m., seniors from across the Valley flooded the fairgrounds.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Before the official fair gates opened at 11 a.m., seniors from across the Valley flooded the fairgrounds.

"Oh because it's senior day and I get in for free," said Angela Martinez.

Martinez was one of the many seniors who took part in the special day, which catered to the Valley's senior community.

"We have about 40 different vendors set up today for the expo that caters to the older demographic that we will see here today," said Taylor Childers.

Booths were set up across the fairgrounds offering free goodies and information on health issues and insurance. They even got a chance to get an eye exam from sponsor Eye-Q.

"We're screening all the seniors to see if they need help with their vision looking for cataracts checking eye pressure just making sure they're seeing well," said Dr. John Barron.

Seniors can face vision problems like cataracts and issues related to diabetes as they got older. Martinez took advantage of the eye exam.

"I like to keep up on my health. I'm very active," said Martinez.

Martinez says while she enjoyed the health advice. She also had to take part in another fair favorite.

"The food--I love eating," said Martinez.

Seniors enjoyed eating those famous cinnamon rolls and other good eats.

They say it's nice to enjoy the fair at their own pace before the crowds get too big.
