1 person killed after truck gets hit by big rig in Merced County

MERCED COUNTY (KFSN) -- One man is dead after a truck collided with a big rig in Merced County.

CHP officers said a truck pulled out in front of the semi that had the right of way at Atwater Jordan Road and Lincoln Boulevard. The crash caused the truck to slam into a power pole and catch fire.

The driver of that vehicle died at the scene.

A witness heard the crash and was able to pull out the passenger of the truck to safety. The extent of that person's injuries are not yet known.

The driver of the semi suffered only minor injuries.

PG&E was out at the scene working to get power restored after it was knocked out by the crash.
