Home surveillance cameras show first-responders rushing to treat a teen. The girl showed up at a home in the Cold Springs Rancheria area near Tollhouse after her kidnappers had brutally beaten her and tied her to a tree. She managed to break free and walk nearly a mile to a neighbor's home.
Diana has lived on Burrow Valley Road for 40 years. She watched paramedics pass her home that day, "I was hearing the ambulance go by at 4:30," she said.
But it was not until later that evening she learned what happened. "I've never heard of anything this horrendous as this 13-year-old girl being kidnapped and beaten," Diana said.
One neighbor says earlier in the day she saw two men walking down the road who seemed a little suspicious. "The older gentleman looked over and just kind of had a mean look in his eye made me feel uncomfortable so I closed my gates," neighbor Christy explained.
Authorities say the suspects, believed to be four men, possibly escaped in a silver 1990's model BMW with tinted windows.
Surveillance video focusing on the road they could have gone down on shows a number of cars fitting that description. "We believe that this attack targeted the little child," a neighbor said.
Neighbors like Eileen Rounsaville who stopped to check out the golden poppies along Sample Road say they are going to keep an eye out for anything that could lead to an arrest. "Thinking that somebody could do something so terrible like that," Rounsaville said. "It just made me sick."
