Investigators are looking into a fire in Central Fresno
Arson Investigators say they believe the fire was started by someone with gasoline.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Arson Investigators say they believe the fire was started by someone with gasoline. They say someone poured it near the front door of an apartment near Shields and Hughes, around 3:30 a.m. Monday, then lit it on fire.

Officers say when they arrived they saw a woman running from the scene. She was taken into custody for questioning. But the people living inside the apartment believe the person who set the fire was a disgruntled relative.

"It just hurts me to my heart to find out that my relative, first cousin, that I grew up with as a sister, did this," said Amanda Smith, fire victim.

"When officers contacted her she a blanket wrapped around her, she was wearing gloves on that smelled of gasoline, and she had a butane lighter," said Sgt. Jordan Beckford, Fresno Police. "But she's not providing any information and she isn't willing to talk with officers about what happened."

The name of the woman taken into custody has not been released. Damage from the fire was minor.
