Chinese New Year celebrations kick off in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Chinese New Year officially takes place on Monday but celebrations are already underway in Fresno.

The 16th Annual Chinese New Year Parade & Festival kicked off Saturday morning on F Street near Kern Avenue.

The non-profit group Chinatown Revitalization Incorporated hosted the event, marking the year of the monkey.

There was plenty of entertainment to go along with all those parade floats, including dance teams and free activities for the kids.
