Tulare authorities get crime-fighting drone

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Tulare County Sheriff's Department is one of three in the state getting a drone to help fight crime.

A demo model was shown at Tuesday's board of supervisors meeting.

The device features 4K video recording, live video feed from more than a mile away and it has the capability to avoid collisions. Sheriff Mike Boudreaux says the drone will be used for special needs, like SWAT details and search-and-rescue operations in difficult locations.

He says it is not for looking in the backyards of residents.
