Man killed in Orange Cove shooting
Around 5:45 a.m., the Orange Cove Police Department received reports of an injured man lying on the roadway near the 300 block of 9th Street.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide Saturday.

Deputies say a young man was shot to death early in the morning in Orange Cove on the 300 block of Ninth street.

Officers investigating the body of a man in his twenties who was found lying in the middle of the road by two people leaving for work.

Norma Gutierrez has lived in the neighborhood where the shooting happened for more than 40 years. She says crime is becoming a growing concern.

"We have the cops and thought it was going to go down a little bit," Gutierrez said. "But I guess everybody has guns now."

Deputies say neighbors reportedly heard gunshots going off at 2 a.m., but no calls were put into police until almost three hours later.

"It is concerning for us because if we had any type of relation to the injured person, obviously, if we had that information at 2 o'clock we could have gotten a little bit further on it," Lt. Brent Stalker with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.

The name of the victim has not been released and no suspects have been arrested.
