Two Clovis Unified baseball teams fight to keep their undefeated status
Clovis Unified was home to two undefeated baseball teams-- both ranked in the top five in the nation. They each faced a stiff challenge Wednesday night.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Clovis Unified was home to two undefeated baseball teams-- both ranked in the top five in the nation. They each faced a stiff challenge Wednesday night.

Up at Bronco Stadium in northeast Fresno, Clovis North played host to one of the undefeated's-- the fifth-ranked Clovis High Cougars. Brett Walker on the mound for the Broncos and he pitched a gem. But Clovis was up 1-0 until Walker's offense opened it up in the fourth inning.

After a walk and an infield single, James Bell gave Clovis North the lead with a two-run, two out triple. And Noah Haupt followed that up with a triple of his own off lefty Zac Whittaker.

Clovis North hung on for a 3-2 win over the now 16-1 Cougars.

A few miles away, on the Buchanan campus, the Bears hold the number four ranking in the country and an undefeated record of their own.

They did most of their scoring early on aith a Grant Gambrell double and close out. The Clovis East Timberwolves on a popout and a groundout in the seventh.

The Bears win by a score of 3-2 and keep their perfect season alive.
