Man stabbed while trying to break up a fight, police say
Police said a homeless man who may have tried to break up a fight was stabbed in an alley in Central Fresno.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police said a homeless man who may have tried to break up a fight was stabbed in an alley in Central Fresno. It happened Thursday morning on Glenn Avenue near Voorman.

Police said the 43-year-old man suffered from a stab wound in his back and one of his wrists was sliced. He is expected to be recover from his injuries.

Police said the victim was carrying a crack pipe and a small amount of marijuana.

"Two Hispanic males were fighting, one had a knife and is trying to stab the other Hispanic male and the victim intervened. And when he intervened the suspect with the knife stabbed him," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.

The victim was rushed to CRMC where doctors believed he would soon go into surgery because the knife may have struck his lung.

The suspect with the knife ran off. Police are still looking for him.
