FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some Fresno high school students are broke a sweat to help a worthy cause: The March of Dimes.

Bullard High School hosted the first Jog-a-Thon Friday for the organization and close to 200 students participated in the event.

As part of registration, students paid $5 which all goes toward March of Dimes. In return, they received an off-campus lunch pass.

"It's a big draw for freshmen and sophomores and juniors that they get to go out and do something great for the community," senior Gianna Bandoni said.

Bullard High School raised more than $1,000 with the event.

Their donation is part of a bigger gift from Fresno Unified. The district's goal is to raise $25,000 dollars for the organization.
