FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) --Paul McCartney played a sold-out show Wednesday night at the Save Mart Center-- the only California stop on his new concert tour.
It doesn't matter if you've seen McCartney several times before or if it was your first time-- Fans said it's a historic day anytime you get to see a living Beatle.
Hours before McCartney was set to play at the Save Mart Center his songs could already be heard from the parking lot.
"I'm super excited," said King Tobias, Beatles superfan.
Six-year-old King of Los Banos has played for the former Beatle before. And Wednesday night he and his mom drove more than an hour to meet with their idol backstage once again.
"He'll probably ask me today if I know more Beatles' songs," said King.
Fans young and old packed the sidewalk in their Beatles gear hours before the show.
"First started listening to his music in 1963, I grew up on the Beatles and I love everything about them," said one attendee.
They said McCartney is a legend for that very reason. His songs are capable of transcending generations.
"My sister-in-law said Paul was coming. The first thing I did was stop the trip so we could get the tickets on the phone," said Gilbert Fleming, fan.
Others are seeing the rock and roll icon for the first time, documenting every precious moment of their experience.
"I could hardly sleep to be honest. It's so exciting to think about, you know. One of the Beatles, Paul-- you know, he's wonderful," said a fan.
His fans came here for the memories, but they are walking away with much than beautiful music. That positive force of energy-- why some many people fell in love with his songs in the first place and why kids like King continue to strum along.
"He makes music about loving people, not trying to hurt or kill people," said King.
Wednesday night's performance was the first stop on Paul McCartney's world tour. It is, however, his only stop in California.
So if you missed the former Beatle Wednesday night there's still a chance you can catch him in another city.
