FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of Valley high school students spent their lunch break buzzing over a worthy cause.

There were 45 Students who volunteered to be a part of this year's Saint Baldricks head-shaving event at Clovis North on Thursday.

It's a fundraiser benefitting the Child Cancer Research Foundation. Some boys and girls buzzed their heads completely while other girls had the option of cutting eight or more inches from their hair.

"It's huge it shows how everyone has somehow been affected by cancer," Clovis North peer counseling advisor Carlos Zuniga said.

"I know people who have known cancer so it's an important cause to me," student Sophia Souza said. "I'm so happy I did it."

Clovis North has been doing this fundraiser for seven years.

This year's efforts brings their total amount raised past the $100,000 mark.
