FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Father's Day is just two days away and if you haven't gotten your gift yet you still have time. This Father's Day, retailers are putting out all the stops to help local shoppers find that perfect gift.

Spending is expected to reach a record-high $14.3 billion this year.

"Dads all the way around love sports. I think getting them something that they love and enjoy, their families will make it more enjoyable for them," said Krystal Villarreal, JR Sports employee.

Apparel and trinkets from almost every team and sport line the rows at JR's Sports in Northwest Fresno. Villarreal says barbecue items are among the best sellers.

This Father's Day more people are choosing to give the gift of experience and partake in activities like golfing with dad. Dragonfly Golf Course in Madera is offering an online special of $29 per person for a round of golf on Sunday.

"We're doing this Father's Day special because we want people to come out and spend the day with their dad," said Stephanie Clay, Dragonfly Golf Course.

Fresno State is also selling football tickets, so families can enjoy a future night under the bright lights and make memories.

Over at Lowe's, employees said they've seen an increase in customers lately looking for gifts.

"Everybody loves to grill. Guys and dads like to grill, and that's probably our best category right now is selling barbecues," said Dale Delmanowaki, Lowes store manager.

Employees said power tools and hand tools are also popular items as well.

Local restaurants are also offering specials from Father's Day brunch to dinner.

Consumers are expected to spend an average $125 on dad this year, up from last year. But whether it's big or small, many say it's the gesture that will go far for dad.
