Fresno reality tour gives glimpse of teen drug addiction
The Reality Tour Drug Prevention Program takes people on a fictitious journey of a teen getting arrested, sent to prison, to the ER and then finally a funeral.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The journey of a teen drug addict is inspiring students and their parents to have a serious conversation about drug use.

The Reality Tour Drug Prevention Program takes people on a fictitious journey of a teen getting arrested, sent to prison, to the ER and then finally a funeral. Organizers said the dramatic tour is not meant to be a scare tactic for families but simply a reenactment of realistic events.

"It's a very emotional event," Daisy Lopez with the California Health Collaborative said. "It's very impactful, especially for parents. These parents put themselves in the position of the parents acting in the role. And they think this could potentially be my child. What can I do to make sure this doesn't become my child."

This is the ninth tour hosted by the California Health Collaborative and the Fresno Police Department. If you missed this one, the next one is coming up in March of 2017.
