Train smashes into semi-truck stuck on tracks in Atwater

ATWATER, Calif. (KFSN) -- A spectacular crash Tuesday in the North Valley between a speeding freight train and a trailer truck.

According to Atwater police, the crash happened at noon at the Applegate Road rail crossing. Somehow the semi's trailer got tangled up on the tracks.

Traffic started backing up and #abc30insider Anthony Zambrano caught video of the train striking the truck.

As the train barreled down the tracks on a collision course an officer quickly tries to get out of the way. You can see him in the video running in reverse.

The train smashed into the trailer but no one at the scene suffered any injuries.

The intersection remained closed for hours as workers tried to clear the wreck from the tracks and the roadway.
