Madera man killed after head-on crash on HWY 152 near Chowchilla

MADERA COUNTY, California (KFSN) -- The crash happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday, on the interchange where Highway 152 turns into Highway 99.

Investigators say the driver of a Jetta was headed east when he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with a big rig, head on. The driver died at the scene. It's unknown why he was driving on the wrong side of the road.

The victim's name has not been released, but officials say he is from Madera.

The CHP is expecting a section of the highway to be reopened early Wednesday morning.
