2014 may soon be the driest year in California history
The drought in California is getting worse and this may soon be the driest year in state history.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The drought in California is getting worse and this may sooner be the driest year in state history. But some experts believe this may be the best time to enjoy local lakes and rivers.

"It's just been so hot," said Kristen Mendoza.

The Fresno mother and her kids couldn't' wait to go boating at Millerton Lake even though they're worried about the shallow water. "Even last year it was maybe a little lower than where it was but it wasn't this bad," added Mendoza.

Michael Jackson with the Bureau of Reclamation says 2014 could shape up to be the driest year on record. "So the lake is going to continue to drop as the inflows drop so if you're interested in recreating now is the time to get there, you'll find the deepest pools in that lake," said Jackson.
