LONDON, Calif. (KFSN) -- A search for clues Friday began in and around a pond several hundred yards from the place Tulare County homicide investigators found the body of a man just before 1 in the morning. The scene is surrounded by both farmland and homes.

"Right now we're processing the scene, collecting evidence, and trying to establish leads that we can go on help our investigation," said Lt. Duane Cornett, Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies are not relying only on physical evidence, they also looked to neighbors who may have seen or heard anything suspicious during the normally quiet time of night.

Another spot where detectives are digging for answers is an overgrown grassy area near the water-- just west of the area the victim was found. The hideaway is usually a hot spot for homeless campers only it was deserted when deputies arrived this morning.

"We have several encampments around the basin so that's something we're looking at as well," said Cornett.

Late Friday, several blocks away from the initial crime scene, crime scene processors had laid out diagrams and were measuring and collecting additional evidence.

Only about 2,000 people live in London. Deputies are hoping that there are witnesses who have information that will help them solve the case.
