CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- Who knew a box of rocks could bring so much joy. Kid's young and old have been hitting the trail in Clovis parks and shopping areas in search of stylish stones.

Amalia Ashton, 8, never goes home empty-handed.

"I like it when I see them I just get joyful. It's really cool because you just pop out and find them."

Nicole Ward started a Facebook page called "Clovis Rocks."

"Everybody loves hide and seek, so I think that's a lot of fun. Pokémon GO was super popular for a long time so it's a little spin on that."

Cristina Ashton, of Clovis, explained how this simple deal works.

"You create them and decorate them whatever way you like and then hide them in a place that's convenient to you, maybe put a clue out there and hopefully somebody will find it and enjoy your treasure."

Members post pictures and clues. If you have energetic rock hunters the search doesn't last very long. But the girls left another one in case someone looks in the same spot. They enjoy creating the artwork as much as they do searching for stones.

"I like painting flowers because they're really easy to do and it's relaxing," said Isabella Ward, 9-years-old.

Similar rock groups can be found around the globe.

"Adult coloring is popular because it's so relaxing and this is really the same thing," said Nicole.

The rocks are normally hidden in easy to spot areas.

"I'm a pre-school teacher so I like it where a little kid can find it," said Cristina.

But even adults enjoy that exhilarating feeling of discovery.
