Emotionally charged relatives rushed into the crime scene Friday looking for answers. Neighbors said they were sitting outside visiting, and watched as a man ran out of apartment 112 flailing his arms and screaming.

One witness wanted to stay anonymous but said, "He was just yelling in Spanish, he was yelling-- it doesn't hurt me, it doesn't hurt me."

While some neighbors called 911- others ran to get the apartment maintenance workers to help. The victim collapsed in a grassy area just steps away from the unit he shared with his mother and brother.

"He just said that he killed the devil and that he killed the dog and then he just started mumbling and mumbling and then all of the sudden he just stopped," said the witness.

Friday afternoon, Fresno Police refused to release details about what may have led to the crime, only that they know at least one of the deaths is being considered a homicide.

"Investigators are out getting witness statements, putting together what happened at the scene. Reaching out to who may have been there earlier, trying to figure out what led to this," said Lt. Mark Hudson, Fresno Police Department.

A neighbor, who doesn't want to be identified, lives right behind the mother and son. She didn't hear any arguing or problems before the son came out screaming-- she said the mom is always friendly.

"Quiet, nice-- more protective of her dog-- walked him probably nine or more times a day. I don't understand what's going on; why he would do this to his mom?"

Witnesses said they never went inside to see her condition but they did notice her son bleeding from a vertical cut on his wrist, another near his neck, and his head. They believe the 29-year-old son may have killed his 49-year-old mom then intentionally stabbed himself.

Some relatives have told investigators the man who died was acting very strange and off lately.

Investigators collected evidence all day-- along with a Deputy Coroner.

Witnesses did not see any type of murder weapon and official ID's have not been released.
