One man is dead and another is in the hospital in critical condition following an early morning shooting in southwest Fresno Sunday.

Fresno police say they responded to a ShotSpotter call just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning near Eunice and Rev. Chester Riggins Avenue.

When police arrived on the scene, they found a 23-year-old man lying in the roadway with gunshot wounds. That victim was rushed to the hospital where he still remains in critical condition.

Investigators say they followed a trail of blood to a home in the same neighborhood and found a second gunshot wound victim who later died from his injuries.

The victim has yet to be identified and detectives are working to determine a motive in the shooting.
