If you want to build muscle, you first want to look at what areas need the most work and then plan your routine.

Are you looking at getting lean and tone or do you want to build muscle?

If you want to build muscle, you first want to look at what areas need the most work and then plan your routine.

The three components you want to look at are repetition, weight and consistency. You want to work with medium to heavy weight at least 4 days per week. Try to stay intense during your workout. If you want to build lean body mass you need to push the muscle to make it stronger and bigger. The goal is to use heavy weight and fewer reps.

If you want to reach your goal, have a balanced diet and an aerobic workout component, which includes walking or cycling. Also, it is best to have a workout partner to spot you if you are using free weights and to help motivate you.
