FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A film festival is back in Fresno and this year Valley creatives were encouraged to make short films inspired by pets.

The Germ Film Festival encourages people of all ages and experience levels to create movies by giving them a "germ" of an idea to use as a starting point. The goal of The Germ is to encourage new filmmakers and connect the Valley's creative community.

This year's Germ was "pets", all films were also required to use two locations, three characters, and have a max runtime of five minutes.

The film festival kicks off this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and the screening is completely free. You can enjoy short films created by local talent and it's also a good way to network.
