FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are searching for the suspects who set fire to an apartment in Southeast Fresno.

The fire started just after 7 a.m. Thursday morning near Huntington and Peach. Fire investigators say the blaze started in a lower unit that had been empty for a day, and quickly spread.

Four units were damaged, but officials say the fire could have been much worse. "When our crews arrived the fire was already in the attic. We sent crews to the roof to begin cutting a hole in the roof and stop it from spreading," said Koby Johns, Fresno Fire Department.

Officials say the fire caused about $80-thousand in damage. The eight people displaced by the flames will receive help from the Red Cross.
