Firefighters quickly got a handle on a vegetation fire in Northwest Fresno Wednesday night.

FRESNO, Calif. -- Firefighters quickly got a handle on a vegetation fire in Northwest Fresno Wednesday night.

The flames burned two to three acres close to the San Joaquin River near Alluvial and Milburn. We had quite a few calls into the newsroom from Action News viewers about the smell of smoke and haziness in the air.

No one was hurt and no structures were threatened. The only thing that burned was part of a nearby fence.

There is no word on what may have started the fire.
