Encampment fire spreads to apartment in Southeast Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A family has been displaced from their home following an early morning fire.

Crews responded to the apartment fire in the area of Maple and Florence at 6 a.m. on Friday. They say the fire began outside the complex at an encampment just north of the building. The fire spread from the grass, then ran up a fence and trees before it reached the structure, damaging one unit.

Crews were able to put the fire out before it spread to any other apartments. The family displaced by the fire has been moved to an unoccupied unit.
