FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters say a cigarette sparked the flames at an apartment in Northeast Fresno on Sunday.

The fire started around 1 p.m. on 11th Street near Rialto Avenue. Crews spotted heavy smoke coming from one of the units, but they say the fire had quickly flashed and most of it was out already.

A battalion chief told Action News firefighters saw evidence of possible honey oil manufacturing in the apartment, so they secured the scene and called for an investigator. But authorities later determined an unattended cigarette on a couch accidentally started the fire.

No one was injured, and crews contained the damage to just one unit.
