Man shot during party at home near Merced College

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man is in critical condition after being shot during a party at a home near Merced College early Sunday morning.

Merced police say they responded to Cornell Court near Notre Dame Avenue around 2:30 a.m. and found a 25-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was given first aid and transported to Mercy Medical Center.

Detectives say words were exchanged between some gang members, the victim and other people at the party. A short time later, the victim was shot.

The police department's SWAT team served a search warrant at another location. Police say two juveniles were arrested, but they are only being held on probation violations.
