Mendota Homeless camp to be cleared out
A homeless camp near Mendota will be cleared out soon.

MENDOTA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A homeless camp near Mendota will be cleared out soon.

It's on Highway 33, just outside the city limits. Dozens of people have been living in shacks there for years, but the problem is the shacks are sitting on private property, owned by Westlands Water District.

An eviction notice was posted at the camp last week. So far, some of the homeless have decided to leave, some are packing things up, and others are waiting it out. Amy, one of the homeless who lives there, said, "We're not bothering anybody but they probably think the worst of us, but it's not true, they probably think bad about us, but we're just going day by day, surviving."

The Sheriff's Office says deputies will be kicking everyone out within days from now.
