MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- A teacher is facing charges after investigators say he had a sexual relationship with a student. He's also facing similar allegations in another county.

The teacher was living in Merced and working at a high school in Tuolumne County when prosecutors say he started having sex with a 15-year-old student. She only came forward after learning he was arrested on charges tied to his new school in San Luis Obispo County.

Merced County court documents show 15 felony counts against teacher Jeremy Monn, including lewd acts upon a child.

According to a Merced police report, the victim first met Monn when she was a freshman at Don Pedro High School in Tuolumne County, and they started having sex when she was a sophomore.

Monn was an Ag teacher and FFA advisor at the time. Investigators say the sexual acts happened on campus, at Monn's apartment in Merced, and at a hotel in Fresno County during an FFA conference.

The victim said she saw the 31-year-old as her boyfriend until he moved to a new school in Paso Robles and suddenly stopped communicating with her. The teen only came forward after learning Monn was arrested there in June. Police say he was having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student for about three months.

The Merced police report indicates there may also be an additional victim from Monn's time at Don Pedro.

The Merced County prosecutor says if Monn is convicted on the counts in this case alone he could face about eight years in prison and would have to register as a sex offender.

The defense attorney would only confirm Monn pleaded not guilty to all of the counts and will be back in court on the 29th.

The Tribune newspaper in San Luis Obsipo County reports that Monn's teaching contract was not renewed there.
