FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The family of a hit-and-run victim who was killed nearly one month ago is begging for witnesses to come forward. 80-year-old Salud Barragan was hit and killed by a car in front her Orosi home.

One month ago Barragan's family didn't think they'd be visiting a cemetery. Now decorating their grandmother's grave is an everyday routine.

"It's extremely heartbreaking. It's just shattered us to pieces," said the victim's daughter Sonia Garcia.

Barragan was run over by a car in late January right in front of her house. The suspect drove off and so far no one has been arrested. Emma Barragan was one of the first people to run to her grandmother's side.

"I stepped out of the house and she was just there lying down. She was bleeding. And it was just really hard just being there. She was trying to talk but she couldn't talk," Emma said.

CHP investigators say this case is difficult because there was little physical evidence of the suspect vehicle left at the crime scene one month ago and they have very little new information about the crash. The suspect is described as a man in his twenties who drove away after dragging her for several feet.

"Everyone I see I keep thinking was it that person was it that person," said Garcia.

Daughter Sonia Garcia says there's not a lot of through traffic in front of her home where it happened and she fears one of their neighbors could be the suspect.

"It hurts us inside not knowing who did this to her and I don't want months to go by, years to go by and we don't have justice," said Emma.

Investigators are working on creating a reward fund for anonymous tips so more witnesses will come forward.
