FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 16-year-old boy is dead after being shot, and now Fresno police are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.

The teenager was dropped off at Community Regional Medical Center in Downtown Fresno Monday afternoon. Police say he was left at the hospital by the driver in a silver BMW SUV.

The driver hit two cars at Fresno and G streets on the way to the hospital, then dropped off the victim and drove away, according to police.

The victim was said to be in critical condition after being shot in the upper torso, but he later died of his injuries. His name has not been released.

Investigators are looking for the driver of the SUV, who they have only been able to identify as an African-American man in his 20s with long dreadlocks. The vehicle has not been located either.

Police believe the shooting may have happened in the general area of Fruit and Annadale, but they are still investigating.
