FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Nine people are displaced after an SUV crashed into their homes in Northeast Fresno on Sunday.

Fresno firefighters say a driver hit the center median, overcorrected, and then slammed into an apartment complex near Ashlan and Chestnut avenues. Three units were damaged, but no one was in them at the time of the crash.

"It entered through the front door and the side of one occupancy and went through the living room into the third occupancy, so it's very fortunate no one was injured with this," said John Creasy of the Fresno Fire Department.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control.

The Red Cross was called in to help the families whose homes and belongings were damaged.
