BOULDER, Colo. -- The city council in Boulder, Colorado, is making a big push for bear-resistant trash cans, so bear-proof trash cans were tested at a facility near Yellowstone National Park.

The bears were very persistent, but they were not able to break through.

In March, the Boulder City Council approved an ordinance requiring bear-resistant cans on the west side of the city. According to KMGH-TV, the fine for unsecured trash was increased to $250 from $100.
