Valley Animal Center gearing up to host the Super Adoption event
This weekend you may be able to find your new best friend as the Valley Animal Center hosts the Super Adoption event.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- This weekend you may be able to find your new best friend as the Valley Animal Center hosts the Super Adoption event.

Standing on four legs, and sometimes two, our furry friends are gearing up for their big debut. For a 4th year the Valley Animal Center is hosting the Super Adoption Event.

"We are so proud to be a part of a community where everybody works together for the good of the animals in need," said Nina Tonnu, Valley Animal Center.

Dogs and cats of all sizes will put their best paw forward hoping to find their new family.

"The mission is to find these animals a forever home and address the pet over population problem," said Tonnu.

The Central Valley has one of the largest pet overpopulation problems in the country.

"For Fresno Humane that is the animal control facility, they're taking in anywhere from 10-15 dogs per day," said Amanda Allen, Animal Compassion Team.

Animal Compassion Team volunteer and board member Amanda Allen said you're doing more than saving one animal when you adopt.

"When you adopt from either a shelter or rescue, you are opening up a cage for another animal to have an opportunity at life."

The Animal Compassion Team is just one of 11 shelters and rescues that will have animals at the free event.

"All of the animals will be fixed, microchipped, de-wormed, and de-fleed. So they're ready to come home," said Allen.

This Saturday you can meet your new best friend at the Super Adoption event at the Valley Animal Center going on from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
